A Solution for Your Adult Vision Projects

NEW FOR 2010/2011
Starting July 2010 Lions Clubs making an annual donation of $500 or more to support the programs of Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic will receive a FREE S.A.V.E Sight kit for their club.

About the Program

S.A.V.E. Sight is a risk assessment program based on medically accepted and scientifically tested guidelines, standardized training and testing and continual program evaluation. The goals of the program are as follows:
  • Assess individuals for potential adult vision problems including potentially blinding disorders such as; glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, and cataracts.
  • Educate the general public about the importance of good eye health.
  • Encourage regular dilated eye exams.
  • Provide resource information to the general public

How to Become a Part of S.A.V.E. Sight

This program offers a comprehensive and “user friendly” S.A.V.E. Sight Staff Manual.  The manual delivers a 30 minute “self study” course on delivering an effective risk assessment.  As well as providing program education, it reviews the questions on the Risk Assessment, the reasoning behind the questions, appropriate responses to frequently asked questions by assessment participants, and how to conduct an exit interview and make quality referrals.

Upon completion of the 30 minute self study course, club members then request the S.A.V.E. Sight test to receive their certification.  The test can be obtained by calling Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic.  After completion it should be mailed, faxed, or emailed back to Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic.  Once received, Prevent Blindness will mail the certification cards and a S.A.V.E Sight kit, which contains:
  • Prevent Blindness Mid-Atlantic vision risk assessment forms
  • a supply of educational brochures
  • signage and table-top items to facilitate the event
